How do you do an overall cleaning on a papasan cushion?

Q: My husband and I bought a double papasan chair for a great price and it is in great condition all except for a few stains and a bit of a musty smell. I have a blanket over it now but I want to have it cleaned. Do I take it to a dry cleaners or do I have to have an upholstery cleaner come and do it? I would get a new cushion but they are over a hundred dollars and it seems such a waste to throw this out on account of the bit of the musty smell.

A: You don't say what the cover is made of leather or fabric. But, if it is made of fabric, there is a product called Foleys Upholstery Cleaner available at the home depot that will remove the stains. To remove the musty smell, sprinkle 20- mule team Borax on it and leave it for 24 hours (on both sides one at a time) then vacuum it away. Fabreeze will work short term but a musty smell will return as you sit on it over time. You may have an internal mold or mildew problem which is in the cushion, not on the fabric covering it. Then you will need a product called DampRid which I've only found at Lowes, spray it on and it kills the spores and leaves a protective barrier that prohibits further growth. Treat both sides and allow to dry. It won't hurt the fabric, it is not toxic and is odorless. If it is leather, Jubliee will clean and protect it, but won't remove the musty smell. For leather, once you clean, protect & moisturize it, you can try putting it in the sun to remove the musty odor, but if it is in the cushion fiber you may not be able to remove it effectively.

How do you wash a papasan cushion?

Q: none

A: If there's pet hair on it start with a Dustbuster. Then use a damp cloth with Woolite. If it's really bad, take it to a drycleaner.

A: Try looking at Cost Plus World Market! I have seen that they have the papasan cushions in many colors at the store near me. Just be careful shopping there, it's really easy to go overboard, LOL! http://www.worldmarket.com/home.jsp?DCMP=KNC-Google&HBX_PK=cost+world+market+plus&HBX_OU=50

Where can I buy a new cushion for a papasan chair?

Q: I have a papasan chair, it's one of those round adjustable wicker chairs that people have in their conservatories etc. I need a new cushion for it but can't find anywhere that sells them. The pier does sell them but they're £60 each plus £15 postage which is ridiculous! Has anyone bought one elsewhere? Thanks in advance Kat

A: In the US we have the store World Market that sells them.. In the UK I'm not sure..Sorry
